How PaverGhana works
PaverGhana is a free, live map where drivers, commuters and residents across Ghana warn each other about flooded roads, blocked gutters, standing water and potholes. It works in Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale and anywhere else in Ghana. No account is needed.
Open the live mapHow to report a hazard
- Tap Report hazard. The map starts at your location.
- Move the map to the exact spot and tap Set location.
- Choose the type: flooded road, blocked gutter, standing water, or pothole and erosion.
- For a flooded road, you can mark where the water ends and the line is drawn along the road.
- Add a landmark or advice if you like, then post.
Confirming and clearing
Tap “Still there” on a report to confirm it, or “Cleared” when the water has gone. This keeps the map fresh and accurate for everyone.
How to read the map
Reports show in red when they were last seen in the last 6 hours, yellow between 6 and 12 hours, and grey after that, so you can tell fresh flooding from older reports. Reports leave the map 24 hours after they were last seen. PaverGhana is a community guide, not a guarantee: if you cannot see the road surface, do not drive through the water.
What to do when roads flood
- Report only when it is safe, or ask a passenger. Never use your phone while driving.
- Shallow floodwater can hide holes, open drains and damaged roads. If you cannot see the road surface, choose another route.
- Keep away from fast-moving water and open drains, on foot and in a vehicle.
